November 2023 monthly update

Reading break is upon us, November 9 and 10, refer to your courses outlines as not all programs observe reading break.

November 13, North Island College and NISU are both closed to recognize Remembrance Day.

Meetings

There is no Committee of the Whole meeting in November as this is typically a very busy month for students and focusing on studies is always a priority. Running the referendum took great involvement from all our elected students and it’s always exciting to see students engaging, learning about their union, and taking the time to vote.

The November regular business meeting of the Board of Directors is November 21 at 5:00. As always this meeting is available online or in person, in Tyee Hall, room 203. Please email theoffice@nisu.ca for the live link.

November 28, NISU will host our Semi-Annual General Meeting, all Union Reps are required to attend.

This is a great meaning to come to if you’re curious about your Students’ Union.
In accordance with bylaw 7.b this meeting will include;
i. acceptance of the annual financial statements;
ii. appointment of the auditors;
iii. presentation of the Annual Strategic Plan; and,
iv. by-election of Board of Directors positions, if necessary

The Union does not need to call a by-election as all Board positions are occupied.
